Our history made us who we are today. Read below to find out why and how we started helping the disabled community achieve an improved quality of life.
Nella Pardo, the co-founder of DMR, was always looking to help people and thought of helping the disabled community while working in a home-care facility in Cuba. That idea resulted in a family tradition of helping people. Afterwards, the opportunity to help the disabled community arose due to the insufficient number of custom-made wheelchair providers in South Florida, which led to the founding of DMR.
We started by spending years traveling the entire United States to attend educational venues and joining trade associations. These initiatives allowed us to learn the industry and understand the ways of appropriately evaluating and assembling custom-made wheelchairs for consumers.
We provide custom-made wheelchairs for severely disabled or neurologically disabled individuals. But like any other equipment, service is needed, especially when it is used often. For that reason, we provide on-going service for mobility equipment in need of repairs, adjustments, and warranty work. We also offer other services based on the client's specific needs, including, but not limited to, urological supplies, rehabilitative equipment, bathroom safety, and hospital beds.
Our main goal is to improve your quality of life, and we believe it starts with providing independent mobility. We achieve this by delivering quality service upon identifying your needs, whether it be a new custom-made wheelchair, a repair, urological supplies, or rehabilitative equipment.
We want to help and reach as many disabled consumers as possible and provide them with independent mobility – to give someone freedom to go from one point to another.
Our clients have succeeded in many different ways. With their custom-made wheelchairs, some of them have been able to join laboratory classes and go on to attend medical school. We also have clients that were able to speak at eye level in front of a jury with the help of their wheelchair, which is a crucial part of their job as attorneys. Of course, this all begins with being able to attend school, which requires independent mobility to get from class to class on time.
Our mission, vision, and values are all driven by our desire to help the disabled community achieve independent mobility. Read below to find out about the importance of these principles.
